SUDAN
5.6 million people displaced.
Send period care to women in need.
Humanitarian Period Care for Sudan: In April 2023, a power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan turned catastrophic. There has been mass displacement, hunger, death, a breakdown of infrastructures, amongst other things that have made this the largest humanitarian crisis in the world according to the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
As we pass the 600th day of war, Sudan’s humanitarian crisis continues to severely impact 5.8 million internally displaced women and girls in unimaginable ways. The UN reports an increase in gender-based violence as basic necessities and healthcare remain inaccessible. Without access to healthcare, education, and essential supplies, period poverty is an everyday reality, increasing the need for menstrual products and hygiene kits.
Our Mission: At the Fihri Foundation we are honored to partner with the White Nile Youth Association (WNYA), the Sudanese American Physicians Association’s Youth Chapter (SAPA Youth), and the local organizations to provide essential period products and hygiene kits to menstruating Sudanese IDPs and refugees.
Local Partners on the Ground Partners:
Why Your Support Matters: Threats of violence, destruction, and supply chain disruptions have caused both a scarcity of supplies and an increase in the cost of period products. Without these products, menstruators are forced to rely on unsafe materials, leading to infections and other health risks. Inflation has made purchasing these products impossible for many families, who often have to choose between period products and food.
How Your Donation Will Help: We need your support to help alleviate these barriers faced by Sudanese people during the war. Your contribution will go directly towards purchasing, shipping, and distributing period products to menstruators in need. Here’s how your support helps:
Provide Sudanese refugees and IDPs with sustainable menstrual products.
Enable Sudanese refugees and IDPs to purchase menstrual products locally when shipping is not feasible.
Our Goal: We aim to raise over $10,000 to start purchasing and distributing products in high-need areas. As the campaign progresses, we will increase our goal to ensure consistent support. With your help, we hope to reach menstruators across the country.
